Please turn your phone 90 degrees.
The day started foggy. I was unable to see the Kafue river, just twenty meters away.
Today, there was a choice of boats. You could pay ten dollars and fish, or you could just do sight-seeing. I did the second.
Our camp is where the Kafue and Lufupa rivers meet. We headed up the Lufupa and saw many colorful birds. There were several still spots where hippo congregated.
At the turn-around point, we beached the boat near some hippos, and had tea. The boatman found a termite mound and gave a small lecture. These are different termites than we saw in Botswana. They build in areas that regularly flood because aardvarks, which are burrowing animals, stay in higher ground.
Thor made his presence known at the end of lunch. The rain cooled everything, and made our siesta pleasant.
We watched a video about different types of terminates. Magically, after the video was over, the rain stopped. We loaded back into the boats for our evening game cruise.
We are leaving Zambia tomorrow. I'm sorry to say the game was disappointing. But, it's important to know before you come here, there are no guarantees that you will see the animals you desire.
