Jiggling The Handle

March 15, 2013

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

It really is our last day. The official tour is over. Today in Victory Falls, there are optional actives one can take for an additional charge. I signed up for a helicopter tour. It was pricey, but I doubt I'll ever have the opportunity in the future.

When we saw the falls yesterday, we had a lot of mist to deal with. At times, it felt as if it was raining. In the helicopter, we were above the mist. We orbited in both directions to give everyone a good view.

Right in the middle of the flight, my camera crashed and would not start back up. I had to pop the battery out, count to ten, and the pop it back in before it would start. In tech, we call this "jiggling the handle". I was fortunate the data card wasn't corrupted.

The falls really are impressive, but what's just as impressive is the depth and length of the canyon that follows. I don't think the other passengers noticed it. The canyon reminded me of a small Grand Canyon, this one carved by the Zambezi.

It's time to pack and get ready for the long flight home. Aisle seat, please.
