The Next to Last Day

June 15, 2008

Saigon, Vietnam

It's our last full day in Vietnam. Tomorrow, we get back into the big aluminum tube and go back to our lives. It's time to make those last minute purchases.

Right after breakfast, I had my shoes shined. There are thousands of shoe shine boys in Saigon who have been lusting at the thought of cleaning and polishing my beat up shoes. This morning was one guy's lucky day!

We walked to the central market. I remembered a particular shall where we had bought most of the stuff we wanted to bring back last time. If you forgot to buy an item on your tours, you'll probably find it here. But beware, the isles are narrow and the market is famous for pick pockets.

On the way, a man tried to get me to hire him as my guide for the day. I explained to him that I already have an excellent guide, and My Lovely Wife walked over to see what was happening.

It's time to decide which clothes I no longer want. Anything that is old and worn will probably get the boot to make room for the loot we plan to bring back.
